What’s Made For Joy VR App?

Made for Joy VR is a meditative VR prototype created for an early-stage founder who identified a gap in the VR wellness and mindfulness space. The goal was to deliver a visually guided meditation and sound healing experience that gently supports user focus through spatial audio, voiceover guidance, and soft ambient visuals, without requiring users to close their eyes.

Unlike typical meditations, this experience combines voice-led breathing sessions, interactive focal points, animated 3D environments, and alpha-channel video layers of real sound healers playing Tibetan bowls and other instruments. The user is fully immersed in a tranquil world with reflective water, dynamic lighting, and soft interactive transitions that deepen focus and promote inner calm.

Client’s wants & needs
Build a VR Meditation MVP

Create a limited-feature prototype suitable for investor pitching, early user testing, and iterative development based on feedback.

Visually Guided Focus Experience

Design a meditative flow that encourages the user to stay visually engaged, with animated cues and central focal elements.

Voiceover & Sound Healing Integration

Incorporate pre-recorded voice guidance, ambient music, and real-world sound healing footage layered in the VR space.

Minimal Interaction, Maximum Presence

Keep interactivity light and purposeful — enough to engage but not distract from the user’s meditative state.

Immersive Environment Design

Translate the founder’s vision of a peaceful, atmospheric world — including reflective water with visible stars and fish — into a functioning, immersive VR scene.

How we did it?
01
UX Design & Flow Planning

We developed a minimalist VR UX, ensuring that users could intuitively navigate and flow through the experience without any onboarding friction.

02
Content Collection & Asset Integration

We integrated 3D environment models, alpha-channel video overlays of live sound healers, spatialized sound design, and voiceover recordings.

03
VR App Development

Built the full experience for Meta Quest headsets, implementing interaction logic, transitions, visual triggers, and media playback systems.

04
Advanced Water Shader Implementation

A key visual element was the floor made of water — which had to be transparent, to show fish swimming beneath, reflective, to mirror the sky and environment, and animated, with soft ripple effects that responded to the lighting

05
Testing, Feedback, and Delivery

The final prototype was tested with the client, adjusted per feedback, and delivered in a ready-to-pitch, self-contained VR build.

Challenges we overcame

Designing a VR UX that supports focus and calm without being boring or overstimulating

Simulating water that was both physically reactive and aesthetically pleasing — reflective, transparent, and layered with life below

Integrating voiceovers, alpha video, and audio healing in one seamless VR environment

Ensuring the experience could be run smoothly on Meta Quest devices while maintaining visual richness

Project results

The client received a high-fidelity MVP ready for investor presentations and early user testing. The prototype helped validate the concept, test market reactions, and shape the next phase of product development. Made for Joy VR stands as a beautiful and innovative blend of VR wellness, immersive design, and sound therapy, built to scale as part of a long-term business vision.
